CHENNAI: A patient from the Institute of Mental Health, Kilpauk, made two bomb hoax calls about explosives in Chennai Central railway station and Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital on Friday morning.
The police control room received a call that a bomb had been planted in the railway station and would go off soon. Police rushed to the city's landmark with sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad and combed every inch of the premises thoroughly and declared it to be hoax. The call details were traced to the Institute of Mental Health and the caller was identified as Murugan.
Police said Murugan, who was undergoing treatment at the institute, made a call from his wife's mobile when she was asleep on Friday morning. Police soon learned that he had made a bomb threat call directly to the Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. A search proved it to be a hoax too. Murugan was warned and let off.
