ATS arrests Godhra man for link with Pakistan spies

AHMEDABAD: A man has been arrested from Godhra allegedly for supplying money to a man who used to reportedly send secret information to Pakistani spy agencies. Based on an input by military intelligence, a joint team of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squads arrested Anas Geeteli of Godhra for supplying money to Saurabh Sharma of Bahadurgarh in UP.
The intelligence input revealed that a former Armyman had been supplying classified data to Pakistani intelligence agencies for money. “On investigation, we found that Sharma had been supplying the information,” an intelligence source said.
According to sources, Sharma was summoned on Friday. During interrogation, he confessed to have sold secret information to Pakistani spy agencies. Gujarat ATS sources said, “Sharma also confessed before the UP police that Geeteli used to send him money for the information.”
Gujarat ATS sources said that Geeteli’s brother Imran, 37, had been arrested in September by NIA for his alleged involvement in the Visakhapatnam naval espionage case of December 2019. Acting on the directions of Pakistan-based spies, Imran, who used to drive a rickshaw for a living, allegedly deposited money in the bank accounts of Indian Navy personnel at regular intervals in lieu of sensitive and classified data provided by them.

There, they met a Pakistani spy who became their handler who used to give them money in lieu of secret information,” said Gujarat ATS sources. Meanwhile, the UP ATS has reportedly left with Anas after securing a transit remand from a Godhra court.
