KOLKATA: Five agencies have submitted bids to the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) showing interest to take up dismantling work of the most dangerous portions of Vivekananda Road flyover. One of the agencies will now be selected after technical evaluation and work will start from February onwards.
KMDA officials said that about four to five 40-meter-long steel spans on both ends of the flyover from where the structure snapped, will be pulled down. Once the agency gets selected, the exact cost for pulling down the damaged spans would be quoted and proposed to the government for approval.
The dismantling work of the damaged components of the flyover structure would be taken up using advanced techniques and maintaining full proof safety norms, keeping in mind the huge volume of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
