KOLKATA: The city had another warm day with the minimum temperature climbing to 18.5°C on Thursday, five notches above normal. The mercury will continue to spiral up and the minimum temperature could touch 19°C on Friday, said the Met office.
With the northwesterly wind cut off due to a western disturbance across north India, the chill will be missing in south Bengal and Kolkata for several more days, said the Met office.
“Heavy snowfall in the Himalayas has resulted in a temperature drop in north India and a change in wind direction. Central and east India are now receiving southeasterly winds from the sea, which are warm and humid. Since there is no cloud cover, the mercury is rising,” said Regional Meteorological Centre director G K Das.
