Union Home Secy reviews Dzuko inferno

Imphal, January 07 2021: Together with officials of Manipur and Nagaland, Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla today reviewed the inferno which has been raging across Mount Iso and Dzuko Valley.

Ajay Kumar Bhalla reviewed the wildfire and the fire fighting operations together with Chief Secretaries, DGPs, Forest Department officials, and concerned Deputy Commissioners of Manipur and Nagaland through video conference.

Sources informed that the video conference deliberated on the fire fighting operations, the next course of action and what should be done after the wildfire is contained.

It is said that helicopters would continue to spray water over the blaze sites for the next few days.

According to information received from Senapati district administration, the inferno has been partially brought under control although it could not be contained totally.

Nonetheless, NDRF personnel have been searching wooded areas which have been accumulating heat and have the potential to erupt into devastating blazes, and are taking necessary action, said the sources.
