Sensex, Nifty up over 0.5 per cent each

The benchmark indices, the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty, traded on a firm note in the opening session on Friday.

The 30-share barometer jumped 334 points or 0.69 per cent to 48,427. The Nifty rode up 105 points or 0.75 per cent to 14,243.
