Gurgaon: The World Health Organisation’s India representative, Dr Roderico H Ofrin, on Friday emphasised Covid-appropriate behaviour, including wearing masks, following social distancing and hand hygiene, even after vaccination.
Ofrin,
who was in the city during the first
dry run for vaccination before the inoculations begin later this month, also said since the Covid
vaccine can have side-effects, every vaccination centre should prepare for adverse events following immunisation.
A three-member WHO team, comprising WHO India national professional officer (immunisation intensification) Dr Danish Ahmed, national professional officer and regional team leader (north) Dr Vishesh Kumar and Ofrin, inspected two vaccination centres in the city along with the health department. After the visit, Ofrin said Gurgaon was ready for the final run.
“All operational guidelines have been followed at the sites. They are well-equipped to handle the crowd. The entire process has been properly planned and managed and the beneficiaries have been informed about the drill,” he added. The team also pointed out that the sites selected for the vaccine dry run have enough space outside for awareness activities.
