A new documentary has been announced that will explore the life and career of Karate Kid star Pat Morita. has posted the first trailer for , which promises to dig into how and why the Japanese-American actor was able to break through so many barriers in an earlier Hollywood landscape that wasn't always known for inclusion.

Sixteen years after his death at the age of 73, Pat Morita--star of The Karate Kid and honorary star of the hit --is largely remembered for his role as the Okinawan karate master who mentors Daniel LaRusso and Julie Pierce in the Karate Kid films. Director Kevin Derek has compiled a film that tells the comedian-actor's life story, complete with archival interviews and new conversation with many of his co-stars, including The Karate Kid's Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, Happy Days' Marion Ross and Henry Winkler, and fellow comics Larry Miller and Tommy Chong.
