AP Govt has no right to give temples’ lands as house sites: TDP

Vijayawada, Jan 8 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party National Spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi on Friday demanded the Jagan Mohan Reddy Government to withdraw the circular relating to allotment of the temples’ lands under the house sites distribution programme.
Mr Pattabhi said that the Chief Minister should cancel that circular if he and his Cabinet had indeed any respect for the sentiments of the Hindu devotees. While doing such anti-temples activities, the Chief Minister and Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas were enacting street dramas in Vijayawada on construction of nine temples.
Addressing a press conference here, the TDP leader deplored that in 2019 itself, the Government's Special Chief Secretary, Revenue department, issued the circular permitting the temples lands for distribution under the house sites programme. If the CM had any conscience, he should cancel this and issue a new GO ordering that not a single cent of temples' lands would be allotted under house sites.
Mr Pattabhi asked why the Jagan Reddy regime was not taking up any development activities at Ramatheertham, Pithapuram, Antarvedi, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada and other places where temples came under serious attack.
The nine temples at the Kanaka Durga flyover were relocated as part of the flyover construction project. The TDP regime had plans to construct the same temples at suitable locations once the flyover construction was over. But, the YSRCP Government was just betraying the Hindu devotees in the name of reconstruction of these nine temples.
Mr Pattabhi accused the Government of watching the desecration of temples like a silent spectator. Even the Rs.144 crore funds of the AP Brahmin Corporation were diverted for other programmes.
