After a 2020 that has surely impacted every person in the world in some way, Prime Minister Scott Morrison's announcement the vaccine rollout would begin in February, instead of March, is surely good news.
However, it will require top-notch distribution, transportation, storage and related technologies to ensure the most vulnerable members of society, those within the aged care industry, are reached as seamlessly as possible says Epicor Software Regional Vice President for ANZ, Greg O'Loan.
"We must offer support to our pharmacies and other healthcare providers with logistical support from the transportation and storage industries to ensure a steady and ongoing supply of the vaccine - even bringing in the military to assist where required," O'Loan says.
"A successful Australian vaccine rollout, ensuring we get the doses to those who need it most, is dependent on all parts of the industrial production and distribution line working seamless together," O'Loan says.

The impact of COVID-19 on Australia's elderly is undeniable, and O'Loan notes the facts: "Aged care has borne the single largest mortal impact in Australia with the virus. Three quarters of COVID-19 deaths in Australia have been accommodated in residential aged care facilities. The highest priority is to protect those most vulnerable with vaccinations and the care workers that we trust to look after them - we must ensure they receive their dose quickly and efficiently."
Greg Hyslop, Managing Director, BISCIT, explains "a good ERP platform - such as those provided by Epicor - dramatically improves performance and profitability while easing complexity. It ties together a multitude of business processes and enables the flow of data between them, helping staff at all levels always be on top of what's where and why."
Along with being an Epicor partner, BISCIT is an independent software vendor whose Epicor Mfg Wireless Warehouse (EMWW) product can prepare warehouses and shop floor operations for a new era of productivity. EMWW is in use globally, and provides configurable scan validation, complex sorting and filtering, part-level validation, automated workflows triggered by scan events, and other functions to enhance Epicor-based material management, receiving and shipping from an Android-powered handheld.
"Epicor ERP has over 45 years of experience providing industry-specific software to fit the precise needs of manufacturing, distribution, aged care and service industry customers," Hyslop said.
