Bulandshahr, Jan 8 (UNI) Five people died and 17 others were admitted to the hospital after they consumed spurious liquor in Sikandrabad area of the district on Friday.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath has ordered registering of cases under NSA and Gangster Act against the culprits.
District magistrate Ravindra Kumar here said that the incident occurred in Jeetgarhi village, where people after consuming country made liquor brought from outside on Thursday night fell ill and were rushed to the hospital. Four died during treatment immediately while one succumbed later on. Among the admitted, 5 were in critical conditions.
The DM said that all the deceased were labourers SSP has suspended 3 policemen, including the police station in charge.
The excise department has also suspended an excise inspector and 3 constables while 2 excise commissioner level officers and district excise officer have been removed and departmental enquiry have been initiated against them.
Though three youth selling the hooch were yet to be arrested, however, with the help of the villagers, police have detained the family members of the accused.
The deceased were identified as Satish (35), Kalua (40), Ranjit (45), Pannalal (40) and Sukhpal (60).
Police said that people consumed the hooch last night and went to sleep. But after midnight they complained about stomach ache and were rushed to the hospital where four died.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered stern action against the people selling hooch and ordered to book them under NSA and Gangster Act.
The CM has asked the officials to rush to the spot and provide proper treatment to the people admitted in the hospital.
He has asked the concerned authorities to take action against the concerned distillery.
