Priyanka Chopra flouted UK's COVID-19 lockdown rules? Actress receives flak online

Updated : Jan 8, 2021, 13:40 IST

Priyanka Chopra Jonas visited a salon in London recently, allegedly violating UK’s COVID-19 lockdown rules. The UK is under a total lockdown once again, possibly until mid-February, in a bid to control the spread of the highly transmissible new COVID-19 variant. As per the guidelines, ‘personal care services’, including salons and spas, must remain closed. Reports suggest that the 'Quantico' star visited the salon with her mother Madhu Chopra and pet Diana. Celebrity stylist Josh Wood was also reportedly present. The police were alerted of the violation by concerned citizens and officers reached the salon to give a verbal warning to the owner. No fine was imposed. Priyanka, in her defence, supposedly said that she needed to get her hair coloured for her forthcoming film after which the salon was opened privately for the production. Everyone involved with the film has apparently undergone COVID-19 tests. The visit is said to have been done following both the DCMS working guidelines and the film production regulations. Film London has allowed Film and TV production to continue in London in line with the guidelines. For the unversed, Priyanka is presently in the UK shooting for 'Text For You' which also features Sam Heughan and Celine Dion. Seeing as Priyanka is a global figure, many netizens had a lot to say about the alleged flouting incident. One expressed her frustration and wrote, 'Getting so fed up with 'celebrities' thinking they don't have to do this lockdown like the rest of us. Why should Priyanka Chopra be able to get her hair done.' Another tweeted, ' naughty naughty Josh Wood Salon in Notting Hill!!!' One user also opined that it's time people stop following 'so-called celebrities'.
