The Centre started the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ on May 6 to help those stranded overseas due to the novel coronavirus pandemic reach their destinations via international repatriation flights.
According to the Civil Aviation Ministry, 13,266 repatriation flights were operated by the Air India Group under the Vande Bharat Mission till January 6, carrying over 17.68 lakh passengers. Of these, 6,629 were inbound flights carrying 10.73 lakh passengers and 6,637 were outbound flights with 6.95 lakh fliers.
The mission is currently in Phase 8 which will continue until March 28, 2021.
