The ruling AIADMK will conduct its much delayed general council and executive council meeting at suburban Vanagaram near Chennai on Saturday.

The meeting comes at a time when AMMK leader VK Sasikala is expected to be released from Parapana Agraharam jail after serving four-year term in a disproportionate assets case.
AIADMK leaders are to address the cadre and the event is likely to witness political loyalty and drama, admit AIADMK insiders. The party has directed the invitees to come with coronavirus negative report and wear masks.
Party presidium chairman Madhusudhanan will chair the meeting and the invited speakers will address the meeting. The meeting will resolve for the victory of the AIADMK alliance. We are also expecting a couple of voices seeking merger of the AMMK and AIADMK and the party is ready to go with or without AMMK, a senior AIADMK functionary and district secretary said.
Later in the day, party coordinator O Panneerselvam and joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami will meet the district secretaries and poll committee members at the party headquarters here to discuss the election-related issues. The tour programmes of the party coordinator Panneerselvam is likely to be discussed and the Chief Minister Palaniswami has already started his election campaign. The AIADMK leaders will also discuss the seat-sharing arithmetic between the party and its alliance partners. Though the party has sealed its alliance with the BJP, the ruling party is yet to finalise the alliance with PMK and DMDK. Both PMK and DMDK aligned with the AIADMK for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
BJP chief denies seeking 40 seats
Meanwhile, BJP state president L Murugan denied media reports that the BJP has demanded 40 seats from the AIADMK in the upcoming polls. Media is spinning speculations that the BJP has demanded 40 seats, this is not factually correct. The seat-sharing talks between the AIADMK and the BJP are yet to begin and we will let the media know about the number of seats we are contesting, Murugan said.
