The Railway Ministry said that during this time period, PRS counter tickets can now be canceled through reservation counters for nine months and a refund can be taken. Passengers who applied for a refund after a period of six months would also come under its purview. Explain that on the suspension of trains, the railways extended the duration of the ticket refund from three days to three months, which was further extended to six months in May.
The Ministry said in a statement, "Ministry of Railways has decided to extend the journey period from March 21, 2020, to July 31, 2020, for cancellation of PRS counter tickets and the time limit for the refund of fare from six months to nine months beyond the date of journey. "After the expiry of six months from the date of journey, many passengers may have deposited the tickets with the original tickets through the TDR or general application at the Zonal Railway Claims Office," the statement said.
