PUBG Mobile India Latest Update: An RTI filed by Gem Wire, on December 17, 2020, had asked a few questions to the government on whether PUBG Mobile is banned for access in India amongst other questions. The response to which, for every player has been like a sigh of relief as the Ministry confirms that it has not banned the access of Mobile Nordic Map: Livik App.
This query was followed by a few other questions as well, whose answers have been received as well.
The first query was a follow up to the first question– if the ban implies to the new application on what basis would that be? The Ministry responded by saying that blocking applies to a specific App only.
And the final question that was asked was– Is there an open dialogue taking place between MEITY and PUBG Corporation/Krafton INC. The RTI responded by saying “no formal dialogue with PUBG/Krafton is held by this Ministry.”
Even though the news is positive, the tournament organisers feel very differently. In a conversation with InsideSport, Shiva Nandy, CEO of Skyesports says that he is not in favour of getting on board with organising PUBG Kr version tournaments.
“They haven’t banned access, but they have banned the game. This means that we would not be able to host anything on this particular game title. But once it will be unbanned, then we will be the first one to host an event. Right now, we are not ready for it.”
“Once there is a green signal, we are good to go, and we will be the first ones to go it on the biggest and largest scale,” he added.
Santanu Basu, the Founder of Lets Game Now, being a gamer himself says that this delving into PUBG Kr tournaments is something that his platform– Lets Game Now, will not take up.
“We had almost 1.5 lakh PUBG gamers on our platform. But after the govt ban. We removed and stopped all the tournaments. But until officially the government allows the Indian version we do not want to jump into it.”
The game has various versions for various countries. While the global version runs in almost every country, there are specific countries that have a PUBG Mobile for themselves. These other versions are– PUBG Mobile Korea/Japan, Game For Peace is the Chinese version of the game, PUBG Mobile Vietnam and Taiwan version.
