    Silver futures rise on spot demand

    Silver contracts for March delivery gained Rs 312, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 69,729 per kg in 14,210 lots.

    Silver prices rose Rs 312 to Rs 69,729 per kg in futures trade on Thursday as participants widened their bets on a firm spot demand.

    On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for March delivery gained Rs 312, or 0.45 per cent, to Rs 69,729 per kg in 14,210 lots.

    Analysts said the rise in silver prices was mostly due to fresh positions built up by participants on a positive domestic trend.

    Globally, silver was trading 0.64 per cent higher at USD 27.22 per ounce in New York.
