J&K LG announces Rs 28,400 cr industrial development scheme for UT

Jammu, Jan 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday announced Rs 28,400 crore new industrial development scheme 2021 for the Union Territory.

"For the first time, any industrial incentive scheme is taking industrial development to the block level and will promote far flung areas of J&K," LG Sinha here said in his maiden press conference.

He said, "This scheme of from the period of date of notification upto the year 2037 with a total outlay of Rs 28,400 crore and will encourage new investment, substantial expansion and also nurture the existing industries in J&K."

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi Govt's decision to approve the New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial

Development of Jammu and Kashmir will boost economic development in the region and enhance ease of living.

"The New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir will bring in new investment to the region and help in nurturing the existing industries in J&K," said the LG, adding that this New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir approved by the central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give direct & indirect employment to about 4.5 lakh persons."

"We whole heartedly thank PM Modi for approving the New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

The Lieutenant Governor said that this will help in creating employment in agriculture, horticulture, sericulture,

inland fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy.

"The New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir will give a boost to domestic manufacturing in the region and help J&K in becoming Aatmanirbhar," Mr Sinha asserted.

He said, "Modi Govt's decision to approve the New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir will encourage sustainable development by attracting new investment for unlocking the growth potential of J&K."

"The New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir approved by PM will lead to the socio-economic transformation of the region as it envisions to give direct and indirect employment to 4.5 lakh persons," he maintained.

The LG said Scheme will bring about a radical transformation in the existing industrial ecosystem of J&K with emphasis on job creation and enhancing Industrial infrastructure.

"PM Modi's decision to approve the New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir marks the beginning of a new era of progress and prosperity for the Union Territory," he added.
