Hyderabad, Jan 7 (UNI) Justice Hima Kohli became the first woman Chief Justice of Telangana High Court after she was sworn in as the new CJ at a ceremony in Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.
Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office to Justice Kohli who was a Judge of the Delhi High Court prior to her elevation as Telangana High Court Chief Justice.
Justice Kohli succeeds Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan ,who has been transferred to Uttarakhand High Court.
Informatively, the High Court of the nascent state of Telangana came into being on January one, 2019 and Justice T.B.N.Radhakrishnan was its first Chief Justice.
Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao, his Cabinet Colleagues, Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Council Chairman G.Sukhender Reddy, High Court Judges and officials were among those who attended the swearing-in ceremony.
Traffic restrictions were imposed on roads leading to the Raj Bhavan in view of the swearing-in ceremony.
