Odisha BJP to continue stir till all culprits in the murder of two party leaders arrested- Purandeswari

Bhubaneswar, Jan 07 (UNI) BJP would continue the agitation till all the accused named in the FIR in the murder of two of its leaders in Mahanga in Cuttack district were arrested, party in charge of Odisha affairs D Purandeswari said today.

Former Mahanga Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Kulamani Baral and his associate Divya Singh Baral of Nrutanga village were murdered on January 2 last near Jankoti village.

Kulamani’s son Ramakanta had lodged an FIR against 13 persons including the state Law Minister Pratap Jena for their alleged involvement in the murder. Police have so far arrested five people in connection with the crime.

Ms Purandeswari who arrived here today visited the family members of the two deceased BJP leaders at their village. She told newsmen here that Kulamani Baral and his associate were murdered as they raised voice against corruption in PMAY by the BJD leaders.

Condemning the murder, the BJP leader said a year back one Bikash Jena was also murdered similarly.

She alleged that the goons of the ruling BJD were killing the opposition party leaders at the instigation of state Law Minister Pratap Jena.

The Law Minister, she said, has not yet been arrested even though he was named in the FIR and Dibyasingh Baral named him in his dying statement.

She said the law and order situation in the state has collapsed and atrocities against women and children rising as the police under the pressure of ruling party leaders were not taking any action.

The police failed to take any action as police officers loyal to BJD leaders were being posted in police stations

She said allegations of corruption have been levelled against the brother of Food Supply and consumer welfare Minister R P Swain yet the government was not taking any action against him.

The BJD government, she further said, could not give justice to Pari, a five-year minor girl who was murdered at Jadupur village in Nayagarh district in July last.
