ECI team to visit Assam to review poll preparedness

Guwahati, Jan 7 (UNI) The director-general of Election Commission of India, Dharmendra Sharma, will be visiting Assam with a two-day programme from January 11 next to review poll preparedness in the state.

Senior officials of the Commission will be accompanying Sharma during the visit, Assam Chief Electoral Officer Nitin Khade informed here today.
The team withhold review meetings with the district election officers and superintendents of police of 24 elections districts at Dibrugarh on January 11.
On the second day of the visit, they will meet district election officers and SPs of 30 other election districts, and nodal offices of Police, Transport, Excise and other senior officials.
Sharma will also meet the state Chief Secretary and other senior state government officials the same day to discuss poll preparedness.

The state Assembly polls are due in April-May this year.
