New Delhi, Jan 7 (UNI) Social networking sites Facebook an Instagram blocked outgoing US President Donald Trump from posting for 24 hours after the Capitol witnessed mayhem on Wednesday by Trump supporters.
Facebook blocked Trump from posting on the platform for 24 hours following two policy violations, ‘’He will lose the ability to post on the platform during that time,’’ Facebook said.
Instagram also said Trump would be blocked from posting on Instagram for 24 hours,
Facebook had removed a post by Trump on Wednesday saying it "contributes to rather than diminishes the risk of ongoing violence."
Twitter had also on Wednesday blocked Trump for 12 hours and removed three of his tweets following ‘’unprecedented’’ violent situation in Washington. It had warned that any future violations of Twitter rules would result in permanent suspension.
'As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C. we have required the removal of three @realDonaldTrump tweets that were posted earlier today for repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy. This means that the account of @realDonaldTrump will be locked for 12 hours following the removal of these Tweets. If the Tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked. Future violations of Twitter Rules, including our Civic Integrity or Violent Threats policies, will result in permanent suspension of the @realDonaldTrump account,’’ Twitter said.
