Delhi air pollution rises again a day after rains, AQI falls into poor category
A day after heavy rains lashed the national capital and brought some relief for the residents, the pollution levels again spiked in Delhi on Thursday. On Thursday morning, the air quality again fell into the poor category with the AQI hovering at 200, according to the latest estimates updated by System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR).
PM2.5 remains the lead pollutant instead of PM10 as a characteristic of wintertime. On Wednesday, the AQI reached 181 in the ‘moderate’ category.
‘Poor’ air in Delhi
According to SAFAR estimates updated at 6.30 am, several areas in the national capital including Delhi University, Mathura Road, Indira Gandhi International Airport (Terminal-3) and Ayanagar recorded air quality in the poor category with an AQI of 225, 232, 215 and 218 respectively.
‘Moderate’ air in some parts
However, some areas in Delhi including Pusa Road, Lodhi Road and IIT-Delhi recorded air quality in the moderate category with an AQI of 156, 186 and 156 respectively.
