Niantic acquires Mayhem

Thursday 7 January 2021 | 12:39 CET | News
AR gaming company Niantic said it acquired Mayhem, the creator of a platform allowing gamers to self-organise custom game formats for their communities. The Mayhem CEO Ivan Zhou said in a blog post that his team will join Niantic to continue building new social experiences that will amplify and connect the global community of Niantic players. As part of the acquisition, Zhou said it will sunset Mayhem as a standalone product in February so it can focus on a shared vision at Niantic and drive new innovations in social for AR real-world gaming.
