PRD Jawan allegedly rapes woman in Jhansi: Police

Jhansi, Jan 6 (UNI) A PRD Jawan allegedly raped a woman in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi, Government Railway Police (GRP) CO Naeem Khan Mansoori said on Wednesday.
The GRP CO told journalists that a couple had arrived in Jhansi in a roadways bus from Kanpur at midnight Tuesday. They were headed to Hyderabad.
Both of them were waiting for the train outside the station when Home Guard Sarman Pal, a resident of Sipri bazar in Jhansi, came to the spot. He questioned the couple and seeing that they were young, he allegedly threatened and made them sit on his bike.
However, Sarman beat the woman's husband after leaving the station and dropped him on the way. He also snatched his mobile while he forcibly made the woman sit on his bike and took her to the medical college.
Subsequently, he allegedly raped the woman in the medical college premises. Meanwhile, the woman's husband reached the GRP station and narrated the entire incident.
Upon receiving information, GRP Surveillance Team and In-charge Inspector Jhansi put the mobile phone on surveillance and caught the accused at medical college.
The woman then alleged that Sarman raped her. The woman has been sent for a medical check-up and other evidence is also being gathered.
Mr Mansoori said that the PRD Jawan works here through the Railway Police Force (RPF) and it is being ascertained as to whether he was on duty on Tuesday night.
The accused has been arrested and further legal action is being taken.
