Panaji: Goa detected 80 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, double the number that was reported a day earlier. As many as 70 people were cured. One morality was reported. The tally of active cases reached 859 while the mortality count rose to 745.
An 87-year-old man from Margao died at Goa Medical College (GMC) after two days of treatment.
With 2,022 swab tests done during the day, the case positivity rate rose to 4%, a point higher than on Monday.
The day saw 24
hospital admissions and 61 patients chose to be home isolated.
With a decline in new infections reported during the last few days, the caseload of all centres except for Panaji has dropped below 50.
On Tuesday, Panaji’s caseload stood at 57.
Mayem and Casarvarnem have one case each. The two centres saw minimal cases even when Goa witnessed a peak in September.
In South Goa, the Margao urban
health centre continues to see new infections and its caseload during the day was 103. Other centres, including Ponda, have fewer than 50 cases. Loutolim has the least.
