Delhi HC asks AAP govt to respond on plea seeking urgent implementation of Health Bill-2019

New Delhi, Jan 6 (UNI) The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought response from the Arvind Kejriwal government on a petition seeking urgent implementation of the Health Bill, 2019, or the Delhi Clinical Establishment Act, 2010.

The plea file d by consumer rights activist Bejon Kumar Misra has contended that unauthorised pathological laboratories were mushrooming in the national capital without any checks and balances.

The Aam Admi Party-led Delhi government "has not made any efforts towards the regulation of illegal pathological laboratories/diagnostic centres being run illegally, which do not meet the norms and without having qualified pathologists", the petition said.

The petitioner also submitted that in 2018, the HC had directed the Delhi government to take appropriate steps in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court to contain illegal and unauthorised labs, but no steps have been taken by the authorities.

The division bench comprising Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh posted the hearing till January 29.
