Shillong, Jan 6 (UNI) Meghalaya registered 19 new cases of Covid-19 infection, adding up to 154 active cases, even as 14 more persons recovered from the viral disease, surging the number of recoveries to 13,230 on Wednesday.
Director Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the new COVID-19 cases detected on Wednesday included 12 in East Khasi Hills district, six in West Jaintia Hills district and one in Ri-Bhoi
district.
With 117 active COVID-19 cases and 115 deaths due to the disease so far, the East Khasi Hills, which includes Shillong, is the most affected district in the State.
Of the new recoveries from the viral disease as on Wednesday, Dr War said 11 were in East Khasi Hills district, two in South West Garo Hills district and one in West Garo Hills district.
As on date, 3,01,969 persons in the State were tested for COVID-19, of whom 2,88,444 were tested negative for the virus, even as 56 persons were in institutional quarantine and 88 persons in home isolation.
As per the latest official report, 80,135 persons from outside had entered the State, which had 17 containment zones where COVID-19 positive case have been detected.
So far, Meghalaya has registered 13,525 COVID-19 cases, which includes 141 deaths with 1.04 per cent case fatality rate, 154 active cases and 13,230 cases of recovery from the viral infection.
