While Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah's second visit to the Tamil Nadu capital was keenly watched for its political gravitas, he has called it off.
Chennai: The AIADMK-BJP seat sharing talks was anticipated to be finalised by his visit on January 14 --- coinciding with Pongal festival --- as the state assembly elections are fast approaching.
Shah was to occupy the dais on the 51st anniversary function of Thuglaq, a popular Tamil-political weekly magazine. He was also to enquire the ailing actor 'Superstar' Rajinikanth who dissolved plans of political plunge.
In his previous visit during November, he inaugurated projects worth Rs 62,000 crores including second phase of metro rail project and Thervoy-Kandigai reservoir project.
BJP's president JP Nadda is expected to visit the state in place of Amit Shah.
