COIMBATORE: The Pollachi Train Passengers Welfare Association has demanded a direct train service between Mettupalayam and Tuticorin for the benefit thousands of workers from south Tamil Nadu who travel to Coimbatore district.
The association has written to Coimbatore MP P R Natarajan in this regard. “The train will also help traders, businessmen, pilgrims and tourists,” association secretary B Mohan Raj said.
The association has also demanded that the Pollachi-Coimbatore train be restored and extended to Mettupalayam, which will provide connectivity to the Nilgiris.
