Odisha: Four dead, six ill in gas leak in Rourkela steel plant

Rourkela, Jan 06 (UNI) Four employees of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) died and six others fell sick after inhaling toxic gas leaked in the Coal Chemical unit of the plant on Wednesday morning.

According to reports, ten employees working in the chemical plant fell sick following the leakage of toxic gas from the plant.

All the sick employees were initially admitted in the plant dispensary but later four of them were shifted to the Ispat General hospital as their condition deteriorated.

Two of the four employees shifted to the IGH were declared brought dead while the other two succumbed during treatment in the hospital.

RSP sources said the six other employees who were treated in the plant hospital were discharged after preliminary medication.
