BJP corporator Manoj Rai arrested in assult case

Thane, Jan 6 (UNI) A BJP leader and corporator of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) was on Wednesday arrested by the Kalyan police in connection with a criminal case filed against him over a land dispute.
An offence under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections had been registered against the alleged accused, Manoj Rai, who is also a builder in Kalyan, based on a complaint, with the Kolsewadi police station under Kalyan division.
The case was relating to the land dispute where he allegedly threatened and beat up the complainant, police said.
Rai was today produced before a local magistrate, who remanded him into police custody till Saturday.
Police have already arrested four other accused in this case.
Further probe into the case is being carried out by the local police, sources added.
