Entertainment Network tumbles 2.5% after Delhi HC verdict on the broadcasting of sound recording

Delhi HCL ruled that license from only PPL is required, however, no license is required from the IPRS for the broadcasting of sound recording.

Entertainment Network has informed exchanges that Delhi High Court ruled that license from only Phonographic Performance Limited (‘PPL’) is required, however, no license is required from the Indian Performing Right Society Limited (‘IPRS’) for the broadcasting of sound recording.

In its regulatory filing, Entertainment Network said, "Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, vide its common order (‘Order’) dated January 4, 2021, decided inter alia that license from only Phonographic Performance Limited (‘PPL’) (or owner/assignee of sound recording) is required for the broadcasting of sound recording and that no license is required from the Indian Performing Right Society Limited (‘IPRS’) for the broadcasting of sound recording."

" It, however, ruled that licence from IPRS is required for live public performance," Entertainment Network said.

At around 3.20 pm, Entertainment Network was trading at Rs177.05 per piece down by 2.5% on Sensex.
