Funeral held for late Utah freshman running back Ty Jordan in Arlington, Texas

The life of Jordan, who died Christmas night in an accidental shooting, is being celebrated at AT&T Stadium

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) A small memorial in honor of Utah running back Ty Jordan, who died in a reported accidental gunshot wound on Christmas night, takes shape outside the Spence and Cleone Eccles Football Center on the University of Utah campus on Monday, Dec. 28, 2020.

Late University of Utah running back Ty Jordan is being laid to rest this morning at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, 12 days after he died of an apparent accident, a self-inflicted gun shot wound to his abdomen.

Jordan last month was named Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, as well as the conference’s Newcomer of the Year by the Associated Press after rushing for 597 yards and six touchdowns in only five games for the 3-2 Utes.

A large University of Utah contingent has made the trip to Texas for the services, including the entire coaching staff and what is thought to be most of, if not the entire roster.
