LUCKNOW: A property dealer, son of a grocer, was shot in his head twice from point blank range in full public view in Thakurganj on Tuesday afternoon by four bikeborne miscreants, who sped off unchallenged, waving firearms to scare the locals at the spot.
Police officials said, the deceased, identified as Vipin Vishwakarma (25) of Madhavpur colony, had gone to see a plot in nearby Kanak City area along with his acquaintance Sooraj Rawat for purchasing it when he was attacked.
Rawat said the assailants shot Vipin twice in his head before fleeing. A profusely bleeding Vipin was rushed to KGMU Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead.
Assistant commissioner of police, Chowk, I P Singh said the family of the deceased has lodged a case of murder against Sushil Yadav and his kin Rishu Yadav, both of Madhavpur Colony in Lalabagh locality of Thakurganj. In the complaint, the family said Sushil, Rishu and two unidentified miscreants intercepted Vipin and Sooraj and picked up a fight.
“The assailants threatened and abused Vipin and when he retaliated, Sushil whipped out a pistol and shot Vipin twice in his head. Rishu started waving a pistol in air to intimidate the locals who started crowding at the spot and all the four sped away unchallenged,” the officer said. Rigorous efforts were on to track down the miscreants till late night.
“The motive for the murder is not clear yet, though both the groups had fought with each other two days ago also. The accused had also snatched Vipin’s mobile and had called him today to collect it,” the ACP said. Police officials said the accused and the victim, both, were criminals. The deceased had three cases of loot, attempt to murder and theft registered against him, while cases of loot and theft are registered against the accused also.
