Man sets girlfriend's house on fire

Imphal, January 05 2021: In an infrequent incident, a man reportedly set his girlfriend's house on fire by locking the doors and windows from outside for allegedly breaking faith with him.

The man, identified as Noor Hasan (Imran) from Mayang Imphal Bengoon Mamang Ward no 10, is absconding since then.

The incident took place in the wee hours (2.30 am), today at Bengoon Yangbi in Mayang Imphal AC.

Demanding an immediate arrest of the man (Noor Hasan), a sit in protest was staged at Bengoon Yangbi Community Hall, today.

At the protest demonstration, Deputy Speaker K Robindro and all concerned authorities were urged to arrest Imran and initiate legal actions against him at the earliest.

Addressing the protesters, Kongkham Robindro appealed to CSOs MMWO and the people to help the police in arresting the absconding 'boyfriend' and in seizing the gun he 'used' in threatening the girl.

He further appealed to all to prevent mob justice in seeking justice for the victim family.

Mother of the girl also sought support from the masses to reward befitting punishment to Imran for the 'heinous' crime he committed.

She claimed that Imran had also threatened her daughter earlier of kidnapping.

It is reported that the Deputy Speaker K Robindro had also visited the 'victim' family.

Top ranking officials of Mayang Imphal Police Station also visited the family and took up a suo moto case.
