NIA arrests an absconder in TN Sub-Inspector murder case

New Delhi, Jan 6 (UNI) The anti- terror probe agency NIA on Wednesday said that it has arrested an absconding accused Shihabudeen alias Sirajudeen who was an accused in murder of Tamil Nadu Police Special Sub-Inspector Wilson on January 6 last year.

Accused Shihabudeen, 39, a resident of Chennai, was arrested on Wednesday following his arrival at Chennai International Airport from Qatar.

Special Sub-Inspector Wilson was killed on January 8 last year by Jehadi terrorists namely Abdul Shameem and Thowfeek, while the officer was performing duty at the check-post along Kaliyakkavilai Market Road in Kanyakumari district.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over this case on February 1, 2020 and during its investigation, the roles of accused Khaja Mohideen, Mahboob Pasha, Ejas Pasha, Jaffer Ali and Shihabudeen in the conspiracy to carry out the terrorist act besides the assistance provided to the assailants in procuring illegal firearm and prohibited ammunition, for waging violent jihad was revealed.

Abdul Shameem and Thowfeek were later arrested by the agency.

The central probe agency on July 10, 2020 filed a charge-sheet against Abdul Shameem, Thowfeek, Khaja Mohideen, Mahboob Pasha, Ejas Pasha and Jaffar Ali under sections 120B, 302, 353 and 506, 34 of the IPC, sections 16, 18, 18B, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the UA (P) Act besides sections 25(1B)(a) and 27 of the Arms Act.

Investigation was continued against Shihabudheen who was absconding abroad, since January, 2020, as it was revealed that Shihabudheen had arranged the illegal fire arm and prohibited ammunition used by Shameem and Thowfik, to commit the terrorist act, the NIA said, adding that further Investigation in the case has been continued.
