Heavy snowfall in high reaches of HP, avalanche warning for next 24 hrs

Shimla, Jan 7 (UNI) The Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) on Wednesday sounded avalanche alert for next 24 hours in Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul Spiti and Kinnnuar districts of Himachal Pradesh following heavy snowfall on high reaches of the state.
Meanwhile, the downstream areas of the state was lashed by heavy rainfall.
The Meteorological Office recorded 71 cm snowfall in Kalpa of Kinnuar, Kothi in Kullu 35 cm, Khadrala in Shimla 28 cm, Keylong in Lahaul Spiti 20 cm, Udaipur 17 cm, Pooh in Kinnuar 15 cm and Kufri 12 cm.
Two youths belonging to Harayana lost their lives when their car skidded off the road at tourist resort Narkanda last evening. Vehicular traffic was affected on Hindustan Tibet National Highway at Kufri and Narkanda till this after noon.
Fresh snowfall at Khara pather and Khriki passes also made the Theog-Jubbal Kotikahi and Chopal road out of bounds for traffic.
Meanwhile, Ghumarwin in Bilaspur received 46 mm rain, tourist resort Manali in Kullu 43 mm, Dalhousie in Chamba 38 mm Sangrah in Sirmaur 35 mm, Wangtoo in Kinnuar 32 mm, Sarahan in Sirmaur 31 mm, Kotkhai in Shimla, & Kasol in Kullu 27 mm each, Seobagh & Jubbal in Shimla 25 mm each.
Kandaghat in Solan 24 mm, Reckong Peo in Kinnuar & Katsog in Mandi 23 mm each, Saloni in Chamba
Baijnath in Kangra & Jatton Barrage in Sirmaur 22 mm each, Bajura in Kullu, Rampur in Shimla, Bangana
in Una & Nahan in Sirmaur 19 mm each,
Banjar in Kullu, Narkanda in Shimla, Morang in Kinnuar & Una 18 mm each, Shimla, Kumarsen & Solan-17 mm each Palampur in Kangra, Jogindernagar in Mandi & Baldwara 16 mm each, Sujanpur Tira in Hamirpur 15 mm, Naina Devi in Bilaspur & Dharamshala in Kangra 14 mm each, Dharampur in Mandi, Berthin in Bilaspur & Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur 13 mm each, Gohar in Mandi, Jubbar Hatti in Shimla and Nadaun in Hamirpur 12 mm each.
SASE forecast that eight axis in the state were declared level three threat of avalanche(Unsafe) including Nehru Kund-Kulang-Palchan-Kothi of Kullu, Rohtang Tunnel Northportal-Sarsai-Sarch( Lahaul and Spiti ) and Zingsingbar-Baralacha-Kelung-Sarai-\\\\\\\\Sarchu of L& S and Solang -Dhundi-BeasKund of Kullu, MSP-10 South Portal Rohtang Tunnel (Kullu).Hadsar-Ghoi onfoot track Manimahesh (Mahoun) of Chamba Koksar-Chhatru-Batal-Losar-Key-Kaza of L& Spiti-Kinnuar) and Kaza -Tabo-Sumdo-Pooh-Kalpa (L&S -Kinnuar).
Eight other axis declared partially unsafe and Type -Two level threat of avalanche in the state. A number of other places also warned for level- one threat of avalanches of unlikely conditions.
People have been advised against venturing out of their homes in wake of avalanche advisory.

VB nabs 7 officers in 6 bribery cases during Dec 2020

Chandigarh, Jan 6 (UNI) State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing crusade against corruption,
has been able to nab seven officials red handed while accepting bribes in six different trap cases during
the month of December which includes three officials from revenue department.
Chief Director-cum-DGP vigilance bureau Punjab BK Uppal said here Wednesday that the VB has
put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere during the period. In this direction, the vigilance officers have ensured that the suspect did not escape from Judicial punishment in the various courts in the state, he added.
