Seven idols unearthed from coconut grove near Tiruvarur

The antiquity of the idols is yet to be ascertained.
TIRUVARUR: Seven metal idols were unearthed from a coconut grove near Muthupettai in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday while a farmer was digging pits to plant saplings.
The idols were unearthed from the coconut grove of Rajasekar of Jambuvanodai.
On information, Thiruthuraipoondi tahsildar Jegadeesan rushed to the spot and inspected the idols, including Somaskanthar, Ambal, Natarajar, Vinayagar and Sundarar idols.
Officials took the idols on their possession and taken to Thiruthuraipoondi tahsildar office. They informed the Archaeological Survey of India. The antiquity of the idols would be known only after ASI officials check them, they said.
