Bhubaneswar, Jan 06 (UNI) Over 2.11 tons of contraband ganja worth around Rs 1.5 crore was seized in two different places in Odisha today.
The Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch seized two tons of Ganja worth Rs 1 crore from a truck near Muniguda in Rayagada district.
In another case, the Excise officials seized 11 quintals of Ganja worth over Rs 55 lakh from a coir laden truck near Berhampur in Ganjam district.
STF sources described the seizure of Ganja as the biggest seizure of the contraband in the state.
Sources said the drug peddlers have been identified and would be arrested soon.
Acting on a tip-off the Excise officials conducted a raid and seized Ganja and arrested three people for their alleged involvement in the transportation of the Ganja.
