Panaji: The Speaker of the state legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar on Wednesday said that the business advisory committee (BAC) of the Assembly will take the decision as regards curtailing the duration of the business hours.
“We have not taken any decision as yet on reducing the overall working hours; BAC will meet in the next eight days and take a call,” Patnekar said when asked whether he intends to curtail the duration of the business hours in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
The session would begin on January 25 and end on January 29.
The Speaker informed that Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari will give his customary address to the House on the first day of the session and there will be no other major business on that particular day and added that the House will not function on January 26 as it is a national holiday on account of Republic Day.
“Question hour will be on January 27, 28, and 29. On Friday (January 29) we will have private member’s bill,” Patnekar said.
The Speaker said that till date the legislators have sent altogether 751 questions – 195 starred questions and 556 unstarred questions – to the legislature department of the House.
He further said that till date the legislature department of the state Assembly has not received any request/proposal from the government for the introduction of any bill or amendment to any Act.
