Police dept seeks services of CISF due to indefinite dharna by Cong, its allies on Jan 8

Puducherry, Jan 6 (UNI) The Puducherry Police department has sought the services of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Raj Nivas, following the proposed indefinite dharna against Lt Governor Kiran Bedi by leaders of Congress Party and its allies led by Chief Minister V Narayanasamy from January 8.

It may be noted that demanding the recall of Dr Bedi, the Chief Minister, leaders of Congress party and its allies will commence an indefinite dharna in front of the Raj Nivas from Friday, though, Prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPc is in force here.

Meanwhile, since, local police may find it difficult to control the ruling party legislators and their supporters during the dharna, Puducherry police department had sought the service of CISF for duty in and around the Raj Nivas, police sources said

Five companies of CISF are expected to reach here either today or on Thursday.

It may be noted that CISF was deployed when the Congress party and allies led by Mr Narayanasamy staged an indefinite dharna in front of the Raj Nivas in February 2019.
