MUMBAI:
Maharashtra health minister
Rajesh Tope on Tuesday announced that a dry run for the Covid-19 vaccination will be conducted in all the districts of the state on January 8.
Tope said that the state government is fully geared up for the vaccination drive and the drive can begin once the Centre gives the vaccine stocks. "The dry run is being conducted to check whether all the preparations are in sync and if there is any need for any further fine tuning," said Tope.
He also said that he is insisting that the Centre should bear the cost of the vaccination for people from the below poverty line. "It is good that the Centre is paying for the vaccination of the frontline workers but there are many people for whom it will be difficult to bear the cost of getting vaccinated And these are people who are also highly vulnerable to the virus and I am of the opinion that the Centre should at least cover them," said Tope.
A dry run was conducted in four districts of the state on January 2, it was seen man power was well coordinated but there were issues with the internet in some parts of the state which made it difficult to use the Central app allotted for the vaccination purpose.
