Ranchi: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) will hold matriculation and intermediate examinations from March 9-26, JAC chairman Arvind Singh said on Monday.
Speaking to media persons here after chairing a council meeting, Singh said, “Although the exams, unlike previous years, have been delayed this time due to the pandemic, the results will be declared on time so that the students do not face any problems in taking admissions in colleges.”
Generally, JAC exams begin from February 15.
Singh further said that in view of the outbreak, the districts have been issued several guidelines for zeroing in on exam centres. “It is up to the district-level examination centre fixation committee to decide on the number of centres. The number is going to be higher this year since several norms, including social distancing, have to be followed,” he added.
Students are already in the process of filing up the examination forms and the last date for it is January 22. In case a student cannot fill it up by that time, he/she can do so by January 30 by paying a late fee.
Welcoming the JAC decision, Ashutosh Singh, who is the principal of zilla school, said, “Students would get ample time to prepare. The syllabus has been reduced by 40% and JAC will also issue five sets of question papers for practice. The council has also issued instructions to the schools on how to go about guiding the students for the exams.”
