The risk of bird flu has started looming amid the Corona epidemic in the country. After the death of 252 crows in different districts of Rajasthan, now the mysterious death of birds has been stirred up in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala too. A case of death of 1700 migratory birds has been reported in the Pong Dam Sanctuary of Kangra district of Himachal in the last one week.
These include 505 dead birds also found on Monday. A sample report from Bhopal and Bareilly has confirmed the bird flu (avian influenza virus) in these birds. Kangra district administration has prohibited the sale of poultry products including chicken, eggs, fish in the Dehra, Jawali, Indora, and Fatehpur subdivisions.
Apart from this, activities like the release of cattle and farming in the Pong Dam and its adjoining areas will also be banned. For disobeying orders, a fine of Rs 50,000 will be imposed. At the same time, orders have been issued to kill ducks, chickens, and other domesticated birds within a one km radius of these areas after the cases in Kottayam and Alappuzha in Kerala. Many more states have also become cautious.
Kerala: 12,000 ducks killed, 36,000 will be killed
Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister K.R. Raju said that a high alert has been issued after confirmation of bird flu in ducks in two districts. Under this, 50 thousand ducks will be killed to stop the virus from spreading. The government will compensate the farmers. Officials said that 12 thousand ducks have died so far, while 36 thousand are yet to be killed. People have been asked to take precautions.
Madhya Pradesh: Stunned by the death of 150 crows in Indore
The bird flu virus has been confirmed among the crows found dead in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Dr. Amit Malakar of the state health department said that 150 crows have died so far. Poultry farms are also being investigated after confirmation of infection in crows. They reported that the H5N8 virus was confirmed in crows. However, its presence in humans has not yet been revealed.
