Peel police officers and investigators from 12 Division have arrested and charged two men in connection with a stolen vehicle that rammed two police cruisers in Mississauga.

Just after 12:00 a.m., on Sunday, January 3, 2021, officers were attempting to investigate a vehicle in the area of Britannia Road East and Dixie Road in the City of Mississauga. The vehicle proceeded to ram two police cruisers before it fled the area, police said in a media statement.

Officers located the vehicle and with the assistance of the Peel Regional Police K9 unit, the driver was located and taken into custody.  A second man was also taken into custody at the scene of the collision. There were no injuries sustained to the officers, suspects or members of the public as a result of the collision, the statement added.

The stolen vehicle involved in this incident had originally been stolen from a residence in Brampton on December 1, 2020. The vehicle had been left in the driveway to warm up.

The driver, Ikjot Singh, a 21-year-old man from Brampton was charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Flight From Peace Officer, Dangerous Operation, Failure to Stop After Accident, Operation While Impaired by Drugs.

Jasdeep Singh, a 23-year-old man from Brampton was charged with two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Peel Regional Police continue to remind the public to avoid leaving a running vehicle unattended, ensure you always lock car doors and roll up your windows and consider using anti-theft devices.

Previously, investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau, with assistance from officers from 22 Division and ESS, arrested three men for the carjacking of a delivery driver in  Brampton.   

On Wednesday, December 30, 2020, just after 5:00 p.m., police attended the area of Elmstead Court and Timberlane Drive after receiving a call from a man reporting his vehicle was stolen following an assault. 

The victim reported that he was delivering packages when he was accosted by a man and punched. Following the assault, the man entered the victim’s vehicle and attempted to steal it. In an effort to prevent the theft, the victim grabbed onto the vehicle and was dragged almost 800 meters before losing his grip. The victim sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. He was treated at a local hospital and later released. 

The vehicle was located several hours later in the Mississauga area. An effective arrest was initiated with the assistance of ESS officers and three men were arrested without incident. A large portion of the packages contained in the car for delivery have been recovered and will make it to their intended destinations.

Gurdip Singh, a 28-year-old man from Mississauga is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Fail to Comply with a Release Order

Rupinder Brar, a 42-year-old man from Brampton is charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Breach of Probation.
