Yogi gives New Year gift to MBBS, BDS students in UP

Lucknow, Jan 5(UNI ) As a new year gift to students who are doing internships after completion of MBBS and BDS, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered to increase the stipend amount with immediate effect.

Meeting the much-awaited demand of the students, Mr Adityanath has decided to increase the stipend from Rs 7500 to Rs 12,000 per month.

This increase in allowances has been made after 10 years, the Chief Minister's Office took to Twitter and shared this information on Tuesday.

According to the latest decision made by the government, students doing internships by qualifying MBBS or BDS examination from state medical colleges, institutes, universities will now get Rs12,000 internship allowance per month instead of the current amount of Rs 7500.

It is to be mentioned that the MBBS and BDS students of Congress-ruled Rajasthan get the lowest internship stipend as compared to other states of the country. In Rajasthan, only Rs 7,000 is given monthly since 2017.

It is worth mentioning that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Rajasthan's medical students had launched a month-long agitation on social media demanding an increase in internship stipend. The demands have not been fulfilled so far.
