Covid death toll rises to 361, active cases stand at 1,109

Imphal, January 04 2021: Even as the Central Government has approved two vaccines for vaccination against COVID-19, three individuals died of the virus during the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 361.Three persons aged 71 (male, Imphal West), 77 (male, Bishnupur) and 65 (female, Kangpokpi) expired at RIMS, Shija Hospital and Raj Medicity respectively, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.

In the meantime, 51 people were tested positive for COVID-19 at JNIMS, RIMS, Hillside Hospital, Horizon Hospital, Escent Diagnostics, Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity, Thoubal, Kakching and Babina Diagnostics.

They belong to Imphal West (10), Imphal East (13), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (20), Senapati (1) and Churachandpur (1) .

All of them are local people who do not have any significant travel history.

On the other hand, 47 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (2), home isolation (30), JNIMS (5), Shija Hospital (2), Kakching (1), Bishnupur (4) and Raj Medicity (3) .

The cumulative number of positive cases is 28,332 (general population 24,951 and Central security personnel 3,381) .

It includes 1,109 active cases (general population 999 and Central security personnel 110) and 26,862 discharged cases (general population 23,595 and Central security personnel 3,267) .

The recovery rate as on Monday is 94.81 per cent.

Meanwhile, the Health and Family Welfare Director issued a notification today informing that dry run for COVID-19 vaccination would be held in Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts from 10 am to 12 noon on January 7 .

A late report informed that 23 people were found positive for COVID-19 at Uripok Haobam Dewan Leikai, Imphal West today.

Three residents of Nagamapal Kangjabi were also found infected by the virus.
