From Huma Qureshi to Kabir Bedi, Bollywood celebs rejoice as COVID-19 vaccines get approved in India

Along with the rest of the country, Bollywood celebrities rejoiced as the Drug Controller General of India formally approved two coronavirus vaccines Covaxin and Covishield. One of the vaccines has been manufactured by Adar Poonawalla’s Serum Institute of India and launched with the name 'Covishield'. Stars are now taking to their respective social media handles to congratulate the manufacturer as they pray for a good year ahead. Besides Huma Qureshi, film producer Pritish Nandy also took to his Twitter account and wrote, 'You took a risk and invested in an idea ahead of its time. Congratulations. You may have just saved thousands of lives.' Joining him was director and filmmaker Goldie Behl, who wrote, 'Congratulations @adarpoonawalla and all humans generally...' Film producer and fashion photographer Atul Kasbekar also congratulated Poonawalla and tweeted, 'Never a doubt with you and your dad mate. Well done. So proud of you guys.' Veteran actor Kabir Bedi, too, joined in on the excitement and expressed his happiness in a tweet that read as, 'Congratulations Adar! The Serum Institute has always led the way in vaccines. Cyrus and your initiatives in the Covid crisis are trailblazing examples of corporate caring. Hats off! Millions in the world will be grateful to you.' As per reports, it is expected that the vaccination drive would now soon begin in the country. The dry run of vaccines was conducted in all states and union territories on January 2.
