Bhubaneswar, Jan 04 (UNI) The covid positive cases have drastically come down below 200 mark in Odisha as183 new cases were reported from 26 districts in the past 24 hours taking the total tally to 3,30,492 in the state.
Health and family welfare department sources said out of 183 new cases,106 were reported from the quarantine centres and the rest 77 are local contact cases.
Angul district reported the highest number of 24 cases followed by Khordha( 14),Jajpur (11) and ten each in Kendrapara,Nuapada and Sambalpur district.
Four districts- Boudh,Deogarh,Keonjhar and Kandhamal have registered only one infection each while Bhadrak,Balasore,Gajapati and Sonepur registered two each cases in the past 24 hours.
Sources said in the past 24 hours only two cobid patients, one each from Balasore and Sundargarh succumbed to the virus taking the total fatalities in the state to 1885.
So far 70,28,873 tests were conducted in the state and out of which 3,30,492, about 4.7 percent have been found infected with coronavirus.
While 3,26,209 covid patients are already cured and discharged only 2345 active cases are under treatment in the state.
Khordha district has so far reported 52,766 covid positive cases and 326 deaths, highest among all the districts in the state.
Next to Khodha, Ganjam district has reported 247 fatalities followed by 168 in Sundargarh,140 in Cuttack and 117 in Puri district.
Cuttack district has reported 28,789 positive cases ,second highest in the state followed by 21,817 in Ganjam district.
Meanwhile, the state government has decided to open the schools across the state for class X and XII class students from January 8 while colleges and Universities would be opened for the undergraduate and PG courses form January 11.
